Parents.Educators and parents can find resources here to support learning at home.
We know that this will be new to many of you and ‘home-learning’ will be very different to ‘home-work’. Educators are also encouraged to use this area to understand the bridges that need to be built between educational settings and the homes of our students. The resources have been shared by educators and parents. As you seem not all approaches have to be digital, but knowing about free resources and ideas can help support parents and provide guidance for learning at home. This page will be updated as more content is shared. |

Now
Parents and schools need to communicate what are the current learning goals of individual students. If EYFS (early years) or SEND, The move to national school closures has been swift and sudden, and many schools are still working to establish mechanisms to communicate with parents. We ask parents to bear with teachers as they are doing the best they can in very difficult circumstances.
We advise that a minimum of English, Maths and PE are considered up to Secondary age - and then a realistic timetable of curriculum (based on each student and their home environment).
Agree timetables and limits, encourage home schedules for learning and be flexible. Remember that people are not well, self-isolating and experiencing tension and anxiety.
Next
Parents need to be engaged in the home-learning process. We would advise this is more than a Newsletter and links, but a transparency of approach from settings to encourage and engage your communities in learning at home. Be clear from the outset of whole school approaches (networks, whole school contact for example assemblies etc) and how homes can contact and discuss things with school.
Engage existing parent networks (social media etc) but also understand that not all homes will engage in this way / not all teachers will be available due to their own circumstances in these difficult times.
School leaders use key teachers such as year-group leads / tutors (secondary) and class-teachers as much as you can to inform your decisions from the educational side. Parents are encouraged to reach out to schools points of contact, ask questions and generally educate yourself on education around home-learning.
Later
Disruption to exam sessions will be particularly difficult for learners expecting to take high stakes tests like GCSEs. Keep in mind that everyone is in the same boat - and it is important to focus on the present as well as the future.
